THINGS TO DO DURING YOUR VISIT

Water Parks
At Cala Blanca there is a very small water slide which is ideal for young children.

There is a larger water park in Cala ‘n’ Bosch which is fun for adults and children alike. It offers many water slides, a wave machine and pools for you to splash around in. There is the use of sun beds to rest and sunbathe. There are also full facilities including toilets, showers and restaurants.

Walks
There are many beautiful places to take a stroll or walk on the Island. One of the more adventurous is to walk from Cala Galdana to Macarella beach. This is a long walk so remember to take plenty of water. There are several walking guides in the villa.

Diving
The nearest diving centre to the villa is at Cala Blanca. You will find the diving centre on the one way system which takes you round the village. Alternatively, if you head to the beach and look out to the sea you will find it on the right hand side up on the rocks.

Hire a boat
You can arrange for a half day or full day trip to take you round the island. You will find a choice of boats for this from either Cala ‘n’ Bosch or Ciutadella harbour.

Other Water sports
Several of the beaches offer water sports facilities ranging from pedaloes, wind surfing to jet skis. You will find the larger resorts offer the wider variety. Cala Blanca, Santandria and Cala ‘n’ Bosch do offer some services if you want to stay closer to the villa.

Golf
There is a golf course on the island at Son Parc, which is located on the north of the Island. You can hire golf clubs if you do wish to play.

Horse Riding
There are a few horse riding schools on the island which will take beginners and experienced riders. If you refer to the ROQUETA magazine or the yellow Pages you will find information on where they are available.

Monuments and churches
There are several historical sites on the Island. Most guidebooks will advise you of where these are located and how to find them. Each of the large towns and cities have churches which are open to the public.

Monte Toro (which is the highest part of the island) holds the monastery and church. This has a gift shop, toilet and restaurant facilities. You can enjoy excellent views of the whole island from up here. Be careful as you drive up to the highest point as there is a winding road which sometimes can make you feel like it will never end!

Shopping
There are some wonderful leather factories and shoe shops on the island. Some of these are on the main road from Ciutadella to Mahon and others are within the towns. These shops offer Menorcan shoes, handbags, purses and jackets for sale.

Ciutadella has lovely boutique style shops where you will find some exciting designs of ladies and men’s fashions. Take a wander off the main square and walk way down the little side streets and you will discover an array of little shops dotted around offering some unusual but very stylish clothes.

There are a few makeup shops in Ciutadella and you will find you can purchase what you require cheaper than you can buy it at home.

Siesta

The Menorcan’s generally take a siesta between 1.30pm and 5pm. Quiet is appreciated during these hours. You will find that most shops and offices close.

GETTING AROUND

We would recommend that you hire a car for your holiday. However ,there are taxi services available throughout the island and a bus services available with bus stop about a 5 minute walk from the villa.
